68The paper addresses Antonio Enrique Pérez Luño's theory on the foundation of human rights. It does so by analyzing his axiological approach, which aims at integrating a procedural theory of justice and a philosophy of radical needs. The main purpose of the work is to highlight the pluralist and dynamic traits of the mentioned theory. Furthermore, the theory itself might also be seen - given its permanent attention to the material background shaping the content of rights - as a theoretical commitment supporting the value of real equality, the latter being understood as an essential requirement of rights and, more specifically, of civil and political freedoms.
