The author takes into consideration in this essay - which reproduces his "lectio doctoralis" read at the occasion of the Honorary Degree in Law conferred on him by the Law Faculty of the University of Ferrara - the deep transformation of labour organisation in the course of XX Century and he compares it with the changes which occurred in Labour Law. The future is here depicted in terms of further evolution toward new patterns of work, of employment and of rules governing it.
