The essay presents the most recent debate among Marx's scholars concerning his criticism to political economy and, particularly, the labour-value theory. The author analyzes H.-G. Backhaus' contribution (mainly related to the centrality of money in Marx's theory of value) and those provided by the scholars of the International Symposium on Marxian Theory, who point out a monetary interpretation of value theory through a dialectical reading of the criticism to political economy.
